Shamanistic warbling pierces through a dark canopy of hastily scattered samples left in the wake of the quickly turning melodies of Montreal native, Doldrums. This latest track is a master-class in weirdness, its Yeasayer at their absolute limit breaking down any preconception’s of how a song should be composed and producing in its place a track that feels as old and dark as humanity itself. You can half imagine long-forgotten tribes murmuring awake to the shuffling beat. They got some serious attention after SXSW picking up a number of plaudits for their live show. They’re hitting up The Great Escape Festival and Dot to Dot this summer so make sure to keep an eye out for them if you’re there.
