You wait all year for new Vacationer tunes and then three come along at once. First they dropped ‘Dreamlike’ now this (there’s also one other we’re waiting to drop on you). It has much more of a drive than their other tunes (albeit in a very laid back sort of way) and may just be the perfect antidote to the ‘not-quite-friday’ blues. If this song isn’t on your summer soundtracks you should probably think about finding it some room. Not that i’m making a summer playlist in mid-march. That would be crazy….
Its no secret that Vacationer’s Trip was the song of summer here at SSN so to have to wait 4 months for a follow up was a little bit… difficult. So its lucky that now it’s finally here its actually really good. Slightly different in spirit to ‘Trip’ it’s more guitar based, full of clapping and swarming with laid back autumnal vibes which, all things considered, may just make it our song of Autumn.
Vacationer, one of our favorite new acts of 2011, first came to our attention with their insanely good ‘Trip’ Mp3. Since then however all’s been a bit quite on the music making front… Until now. They’ve just dropped a remix of Dom’s Jesus and if you squint up your ears it could almost be a whole new tune! Nice.
You may remember this group from a post a while back about their excellent side project ‘Vacationer’ , have been listening to their Social Studies Ep a lot lately and so far this is my favorite cut. Definately worth a little post on it’s own just in case you missed it!
Vacationer stepped into the light in big style yesterday with their sunshine friendly ‘Trip’ , currently headlining my under construction summer playlist it left me wanting more of this smooth brew of rainforest sounds and headily light synth. Luckily although ‘Trip’ is their first ever song i wasn’t left wanting, for far from being a brand new buzz-band perched on the edge of a blog-provided waterfall of hype Vacationer are the side-project of ‘Body Language’ the finest purveyor of laid back sounds this side of 2010. Below is the tweet from Body Language yesterday that launched the project and the brilliantly named ‘nu hula’ sound:
“vacationer has seen the light of day. FREE MP3. here’s a nu side project .. step into some nu hula .. www.vacationermusic.com“
So if you like what you heard from Vacationer have a rifle through ‘Body Languages’ back catalogue below:
With this sunny weather, heaps of work and shocking lack of ‘fab ice-lollies’ (If that confuses you you haven’t lived… go to sainsburies asap) in my fridge i’ve been feeling in serious need of some holiday therapy recently. luckily this has come in the form of the gorgeous ‘trip’ by vacationer. Well worth a push of the repeat button in this balmy weather and an essential for this upcoming double bank holiday,
Long live free holidays!

P.s. interview with CYMBALS is in the Inbox and ready for delivery alongside a brand new video/track from their upcoming Lp!
Splashh are a very easy band to love. Creating fuzzy slices of warm garage-pop they sound like Gross Magic, Fanzine and The Drums mashed together. Its never crosses the line too far into surf-pop territory but, despite this refusal to surrender their scuzzy edge, they have an uncanny knack for genius choruses. It’s one for [...]
Verda Hugo is the latest single by Sheffield based band Mad Colours. An eclectic blend of blasting guitars, erratic vocal lines and sudden bursts of lush harmony its a brain-warping 2:30 minutes of noise. Released as a white vinyl 7″ through singles label “Too Pure” its a brilliantly insane song that sounds like it would [...]
It’s almost mind-blowing that this low-key London band have managed to drop two albums within almost exactly a year of each-other (each getting released on Record Store Day as a unique vinyl treasure) without becoming one of the best loved indie bands in Britain. Specialising in math-rock with a soul they write pop-songs for deep [...]
Most of what we could say about this is much better explained in the video, but its just nice to see that this marvelously bonkers band are once again proving their place as the most creative band in Britain. ‘Staycations’, their sophomore Lp, drops via the National Trust (yep) in June this year. You can [...]
Slow Magic, for those of you looking for a new Lp to wrap around your ears, have just dropped their debut. Titled ∆ (all the best things involve triangles) its a warm, familiar and absolutely essential collection. If a full album of Slow Magic doesn’t float your boat we recommend Corvette Cassette as a highlight [...]
Guess what kids! Metric are back. Youth Without Youth is a brilliantly rompy piece of power-pop that does everything to get you moving. Like Muse on LSD it should be on every summer playlist. If you’re not sold just imagine a full field grooving to this come festival season. I know right!
‘Last Days of 1984′ are an Irish duo. They’re not though, which may come as a surprise to the daily mail readers amongst us, a Lute and fiddle Riverdance tribute act. Or General Fiasco. Which comes as quite a relief. In fact the sounds they come out with are dreamy, beach house electronics. They’re a [...]
