B-town’s boom year shows no sign of abating and with the return of the relatively unknown Troumaca the scene has some fresh faces to rally around. They dropped a brace of tracks about a year back, which received some critical interest but little real attention. They’ve now returned with a smooth flowing new song amidst a steadily growing A&R clamor. Lady Colour splutters into life with a flourish of squelching synth and precision engineered piano lines. The mantra “give me cosmic love, give me cosmic love” provides a totem around which the song is built as Sam Baylis’ smooth vocals dip in and out of the flow.
Its a potent -and perfectly timed- release that proves Birmingham’s success isn’t just due to a little group of bands riding each others hype [Jaws, Peace and Swim Deep]. Definitely ones to watch.
