Melbourne’s I’lls, who were first winged our way last night, are the lilting antithesis to Suuns brooding menace. Where their Canadian cousins favor dystopian melancholy this lot demonstrate breezy melody and light instrumentals. There are obvious point of common ground, both groups’ vocals are elongated and distorted almost beyond recognition, and neither use traditional verse/chorus songwriting patterns. There’s no real connection between the two groups, as far as we’re aware, but there’s something about this lots sound and knack for crafting needling melodies that drew us to the comparison.
