Why We Care: With a name like Halfrican and promo picture like, well, like that you’d at least expect Halfrican to throw in a few hi-life guitars. But they don’t. They’re not refined, they’re not particularly polished and they could all do with haircuts but what they do, and what they do really well, is channel the lo-fi exuberance of some of our favourite post-punk bands. They’re new Ep isn’t the kind of Ep that sells out XOYO but it is the kind of Ep that, for the 10 or so minutes it lasts, provides a gloriously loose ride of the finest fuzz and perfectly frayed melodies. We’re not sure they’ll be on radio-1 rotation any time soon but, with their barely contained savage exuberance, we can’t see them giving too much of a fuck about it.
