What: Eclectic Guitar-laced pop
Why We Care: The amount of new music that passes our ears seems to be expanding by the hour. New bands get sent our way, release tracks, drop albums and break up all in the space of a few months. It is perhaps testament to the speed with which the Internet has made good music go viral that bands like Parquet Courts and Fidlar who, prior to super-fast broadband, would probably have remained home-town heroes, go international within weeks of dropping good songs. The cycle of hype is spinning with such intense centrifugal force that a trip from obscurity to notoriety and back again can be over in a matter of weeks. Its terrifying but, so long as we keep stumbling across bands as good as Yurs on a daily basis, we’re not complaining. Think Laurel Collective played through syrup.
