[New] Deafkid – Vigilante

Having toured as Ghostpoet’s backing band last summer -they also worked with him in the studio- Deafkid are a new band much better qualified than most fledgling acts. The two tracks they dropped at the tail end of last summer, Talk & Pig, showed a flair for combining intricate instrumentals with folk tinted melodies that got us very exited about them. They’ve finally dropped the long awaited successor to those two tunes in the form of ‘Vigilante’. A marked progression from their already polished sound the track, which is getting released physically on Tape Club Records, erupts into life in a heady spasm of jaunty bass and erratic guitar lines that, as the song progresses and mellows, starts to snake in a succession of unexpected instrumental coils. Darkly immersive, its an impressive return to form from the guys.
